What is Cold Laser Therapy?
By ProMatcher Staff
Low-level Laser Therapy (also known as Cold Laser Therapy)
Many chiropractors offer cold laser or low-level laser therapy (LLLT) as an alternative to an invasive surgery. In cold laser therapy, a small handheld unit that emits low-powered lasers is held over the affected area in the hopes of restoring regular cell function.
Is it painful?
It is relatively painless and can easily be performed in the chiropractor's office. It may reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and increase mobility in the back, neck, and shoulders.
Is it safe?
While there is some disagreement in the medical community about its effectiveness, it is commonly regarded as a safe procedure. Cold laser therapy takes place across a number of sessions. The exact number of office visits required will be determined by the severity of the patients' symptoms.
